BCPC’s Online UK Pesticide Guide – New products and approvals April 2025
1st April 2025Updates to UKPG database April 2025
Some new products to add to the database this month and they are listed below. They have currently been listed as PAR entries until a label text is available and confirmation of the intention to market has been received.
New Approvals:
- Bayer has diversified its isoflucypram + prothioconazole products. Ipresso (M21113, 50 + 150 g/l) was approved last November but now they also have Caley (M21261, 50 + 100 g/l), Milteo (M21255, 55 + 135 g/l), Resilis (M21258, 50 + 110 g/l) and Vivalis (M21256, 55 + 140 g/l). All are approved for use in GB only and all have been added to the database as PARs until availability is confirmed and labels have been obtained to garner the label claims. Another new mixture containing isoflucypram + prothioconazole is called Scorpio (M21257). It contains 45 + 110 g/l and is approved on wheat, barley, rye, oats and triticale like the other mixtures but, like the other mixtures it is only approved for use in GB.
NEW! Bayer also has a new aphicide with a new active ingredient. It is called Sivanto Prime (M21263) and contains flupyradifurone with systemic activity against sucking insects and with the IRAC mode of action code 4D. It is approved for use on sugar and fodder beet, peas, beans with and without pods, carrots and potatoes in both GB and NI. It is currently entered as PAR but will be upgraded to a full entry when a label is available and intention to market is confirmed. Whilst new to professional agriculture, it has been available in the home and garden market for around one year where it is marketed by SBM Life Science Ltd.
- FMC Agro has added potatoes to the Centium 360 CS label (M18719, clomazone) which allows pre-emergence application up to last ridging ± 7 days before cracking. They have also added spring barley and spring wheat to the approval of Dephend Delta and Terrane Total (M19505 & 19370, diflufenican + flufenacet) but while winter cereals have a maximum total dose of 0.6 l/ha and an aquatic buffer zone requirement of 5 m, spring barley and spring wheat can only receive 0.3 l/ha and the buffer zone needs to be 7 m.
- Chem-Wise has gained an azoxystrobon approval called Consort (M21242). It mirrors the Amistar label but the approval runs until 30/11/2029 whilst Amistar currently expires in 2027.
- Adama has duplicated its Fox approval under a new MAPP No but the same name (M21242, bifenox) for use in GB only and it is added to the database as PAR since Fox (M20626) is already available in both GB and NI.
- BASF has duplicated its pyraclostrobin product Modem 200 M19552 & 21068) but the new approval lacks the recommendations on forage and grain maize that were listed on the original. Both are currently listed as PAR on UKPG.
- Sharda has a new approval of mepiquat chloride + prohexadione calcium called Prince (M21239) which mimics Medax Top but which is only approved for use on winter crops of barley, rye, triticale and wheat. Medax Top is also approved on spring crops and on oats. Sharda also has a Terpal mimic in Gaana (M21004) which is approved for GB use only but whose approval runs until 31/8/2031 and a mimic of Previcur Energy (fosetyl-aluminium + propamocarb hydrochloride) in Precision (M21269) which is approved for use in GB and NI.
- Finchimica has duplicated Bixafen EC125 from Bayer and gained approval for the name Bixafin 125 EC (M21266, bixafen).
- Life Scientific have duplicated their Fracas approval which duplicates Atlantis with a new MAPP No (M21126 & 21254, iodosulfuron-methyl sodium + mesosulfuron-methyl) but while the first MAPP No is approved until 9/9/2099 the second approval only runs until 30/9/2034. Life Scientific also has a new approval for LS Fluxa 59.4 (M21208) which will replace the existing LS Fluxa 59.4 (M 20880) which now expires 31/3/2025 since the new approval is valid for both GB and NI whereas the old approval was limited to GB only.
- Clayton has an Amistar mimic in Clayton Augusta (M21246) which has been added to the database as PAR. Clayton also has two clethodim approvals called Clayton Gatso with one approved for use in GB and a different MAPP No for use in NI. Both are due to expire during the next 18 months but they have a new approval called Clayton Gatso EC (M21267) which is approved until 30/11/2028 and which is approved for use in both GB and NI. Could this be the start of some rationalisation of product approval in GB and NI? Perhaps not since the next approval added to the database is a trinexepac-ethyl product from Clayton called Clayton Truss (M21245) and while their current trinexepac is Clayton Trinket which is approved until 15/6/2027, Clayton Trust is approved until 30/10/2031 but for use in GB
- A new chemical supplier! Sigrun Agriculture is based in Dubai and currently has just one product approved in the UK – Sigrun CCC 750 (M21270) is a 750 g/l chlormequat product that mimics Rise Up 750 from Taminco. Sigrun Agriculture has 4 other products listed on its web site (containing prothio + spiroxamine, mesotrione, chlorantraniliprole and florasulam) and so we may see them approved in the UK soon.
- Corteva has a new seed dressing product for forage maize, grain maize and sweetcorn. It is called Calyptra (M21272), contains fludioxonil and mimics Maxim 100FS but is approved only on maize while Maxim is only approved on potatoes.
- Syngenta has a new pinoxaden product in Fraxial (M21271) which, at just 50 g/l, is slightly weaker than the other products from Syngenta but the recommended dose rate is increased to account for this. Approval is for use in GB only at the moment. Syngenta also has a new chlorantraniliprole product for use on ornamental plants grown in pots greater than 10 cm in diameter in Sempliance (M21227) which can be used in both GB and NI but the CRD approval document currently does not stipulate maximum dose or latest time of application. Aquatic buffer zone requirement is dependent upon size of plants at application – see label when available.
EAMUs added:
- Gozai (M21219, pyraflufen-ethyl) has an EAMU allowing use in hops as a dessicant.
- Lepinox Plus (M16269, Bacillus thuringiensis Kurstaki E3248) had 9 EAMUs issued in 2014. These have now all been replaced with 9 new EAMU numbers valid for use in GB and 9 different numbers for use in NI because the expiry date in GB is 15/2/2027 while in NI it is 31/10/2031 – another ‘benefit’ of the Brexit deal. One new EAMU is for use on hemp grown for pharmaceutical use!
- Roundup Biactive GL (M21221) has two EAMUs allowing treatment of asparagus and around a range of fruit trees. Bayer is adding the EAMUs ascribed to the Monsanto glyphosate products to the Bayer approvals and so Roundup Energy (M21230) gains 8 EAMUs, Roundup Flex (M21233) gains 7 EAMUs, Roundup Klik (M21232) has 3 EAMUs, Roundup Powermax (M21220 has 10 EAMUs and Roundup Pro Biactive has just 1 EAMU allowing application of 10.0 l/ha in ornamental plant production.

Withdrawals:
- Zareba (M20516, triflusulfuron-methyl) from Terrechem was approved for use in Northern Ireland October 2023 but is no longer listed on the CRD website and has been removed from the database.
