New products and approvals – July 2024

BCPC’s Online UK Pesticide Guide provides the latest position with regards new entrants and approvals for products approved for use.
The following updates have been made to the UKPG database for July 2024.

Updates to UKPG database August 2024
Note that the following amendments to UKPG will be automatically included in the next edition of the book which is due out January 2025 but they are immediately available in the on-line UKPG database.

New Approvals:
• Syngenta have amended the approval of SL 567A (M20652, metalaxyl-M) in carrots so that the latest time of application is now ‘Up to and including growth stage BBCH 13 (3rd true leaf unfolded)’ with a pre-harvest interval of at least 70 days. They have also duplicated the approval of Grapple with a new MAPP No (M20972, clodinafop-propagyl + prosulfocarb) with an updated expiry date for both of 15/6/2028 and advised that Amistar Max (M20664, azoxystrobin + folpet) will be available in 2025. They will also be selling Tresco SC (M20864, fludioxonil) for moderate control of Sclerotinia in oilseed rape.
• Clayton have a new registration for rimsulfuron (M20976, Clayton Dundee) which is approved for both GB and NI and will be available to buy in 2025 so has been added as a full entry.
• BASF have informed me that they will market Agardia and Luxigard Opti (M20857 & M 20769, cinmethylin + picolinafen) in GB only for 2025 and they will also sell Maxtima (M20599, 100 g/l mefentrifluconazole). BASF have also confirmed the availability of Revydas (M20774, boscalid + mefentrifluconazole) in 2025 for moderate control of Septoria and eyespot in wheat, oats, rye and triticale where they occur in these crops. A qualified minor use recommendation also allows its use in durum wheat and spelt.
• Corteva have a new MAPP No for Gachinko (M20972, amisulbrom) which transfers the approval from DuPont to Corteva but which has a shorter approval time than the original product.
• Globachem have duplicated the approval of Glosset SC marketed by Certis Belchim BV with a new MAPP No (M20975, flufenacet) but an identical expiry date.
• Novastar have added spring barley and spring wheat to their diflufenican + flufenacet products (Nero, M20379 and Saturn, M20644) to complement the existing winter barley and winter wheat approvals.
Tachigaren 70 WP when used on fodder beet now has an 89 day harvest interval before the crop can be grazed by livestock or harvested for animal consumption.

EAMUs added:
Tracer (M12438, spinosad) has an EAMU for control of spotted wing drosophila in plums.
Versilus (M18618, benthiavalicarb) has an EAMU for control of downy mildew in bulb onions, garlic and shallots in GB only. There is an identical EAMU for this use in N I but it expires 13/12/2024 along with the approval of Versilus in NI.
Metazacare (M20936, metazachlor) now has two new EAMUs allowing treatment of swedes and turnips and winter and spring linseed.
Changes to approval expiry dates: CRD have extended the approvals of a number of products and actives, most of which are detailed below.
• The approval of Falcon and Zetrola (M16459 & M18272, propaquizafop) has been extended to 28/8/2029.
• The approval of Varsity (M20412, clethodim) has been extended to 30/11/2028.
• The approval of many products containing diflufenican has been extended to 15/7/2028.
• The approval of Deserve (M19504, deltamethrin) has been reduced to expire 2/7/2028.
• The approval of Halcyon (M19561, aminopyralid + fluroxypyr) has been extended to 30/6/2027.
• The approval of Ormet Plus (M19479, chlormequat chloride + ethephon) has been extended to 15/5/2027.
• The approval of Patel 300 EC (M20843, prothioconazole) has been extended to 15/2/2028.

Withdrawals:
• Of the several products containing bifenzate for control of two-spotted spider mites in protected strawberries, all have expired except Floramite which continues in GB only until 31/1/2032.
Flocter (M16480, Bacillus firmus) has been withdrawn by Bayer and expired 31/7/2024.
Overlord (M13521, diflufenican) by Makhteshim-Agan has been withdrawn and expired 31/7/2024. It has not been marketed for some years since they converted to Adama.
